December 28, 2025 The Promised One (Matthew 1:6b-16). Full video HERE. Every name in the genealogy of Christ tells a story, and the story culminates in the glorious birth of the only One Who is worthy. That’s why we worship Him. That’s why we adore Him. He is the fulfillment of all of God’s promises which began in Genesis 3:15.

December 21, 2025 From Boring to Exciting (Matthew 1:1-6a). Full video HERE. Matthew’s record of Jesus’ family tree tells the story and the theology of Who the Messiah is. He also reveals what He will accomplish, what we can expect of Him and what He will fulfill. This record from Matthew explains that Jesus Christ is the climax of history, fulfilling the promise and the waiting and the longing of every heart. I

December 7, 2025 Decision-making Made Easy, Part 2 (1 Perter 3:13-18). Full video HERE. God’s Word as a road map for life. There are definite commands He has laid out that we are to obey: things we must do. There are specific things about which He has spoken in condemnation: things we are to avoid. But there is a broad range of activities about which God is silent. In Christ, we have liberty to make decisions based on our understanding of God’s guidance through the Word and His Holy Spirit.

November 30, 2025 Decision-making Made Easy (1 Corinthians 6:12-20). Full video here. There’s no better way for God to lead your life than through your desires. But be careful of a potential trap: if the desires are not His desires – based on these criteria – you can’t expect Him to fulfill them.

November 23, 2025 Discovering God’s Will: That You Say Thanks (Ephesians 5:15-21). Full video here. When you were a small child and your parents supplied all your needs and granted to you special privileges how were you taught to respond? “What do you say?” “THANK YOU!” Ingratitude is the mark of unregenerate, unwise, wicked, perverse and rebellious people.

November 16, 2025 Discovering God’s Will: Come, See a Man (John 4) Full video here. Once we have come to salvation in Christ Jesus, we are commissioned to tell others the Good News we have heard and believed. It is a simple truth and a simple command. It is a simple and logical conclusion to reach in discovering God’s will.

November 9, 2025 Discovering God’s Will: How May I Help You? (Philippians 2:5-11) Full video here. Paul would have us to consider Jesus. He left His honored position in heaven and came to the earth which He created. Once here, He never stopped descending. He showed us what it means to serve.

November 2, 2025. Discovering God’s Will: That’s Got to Hurt (1 Peter 4:12-19). Full video here. It is not unusual and it is not unexpected that we suffer for Christ. But, as we will discover, there is a proper way to endure suffering and a proper response to it. There is unjust suffering and there is suffering that is justified.

October 26, 2025 Discovering God’s Will: Wave the White Flag (1 Peter 2:11-17). Full video here. A life of submission is what Jesus exemplified for each one of us so that we would know how we ought to live. Submission is not foreign to the Scripture, nor was it unfamiliar to first century Christians. There will be no conditions to your surrender as you yield to His divine and sovereign purposes.

October 19, 2025 Discovering God’s Will: Growing Up (1 Thessalonians 4:1-8). Full video here. The word we use to describe our spiritual growth is sanctification. The Scripture has much to say about our sanctification. When you talk about sanctification you are talking about living a life of holiness. Sanctification is another divine command. It means we are to grow up into maturity in Christ.

October 12, 2025 Discovering God’s Will: The Indwelling (Ephesians 5:8-18) Full video here. When it comes to the will of God, many Christians wander through life gathering their clues in an effort to figure out the great mystery of God’s will for their lives. But most of the time they gather clues from the wrong place by trusting in their feelings, desires or worldly nature. Instead, we need to turn to the Word of God, prayer and the spiritual wisdom of other believers.

October 5, 2025 Discovering God’s Will: Of Utmost Importance (1 Timothy 2:1-6) Full video here. Many of us wander through life wondering what God would have us to do. So, the query will be raised, “How can I know what God’s will is?” Most of us will agree that God has a definite plan for our lives, but we often have trouble finding it. Some people think God’s will must be lost!

September 28, 2025 The Problem with Evil (Romans 3:10-18). Full video here. Beloved, if you believe in the sovereignty of God and you believe in the righteousness of this thrice-holy God, then you must trust Him, even in the darkness of the wicked world. He has a purpose for the evil. He has a purpose for the suffering and pain. That purpose is to drive us into His loving arms of forgiveness rather than trusting in our self-righteousness.

September 21, 2025 Peace for Troubled Hearts (Psalm 46) Full video here. Life is short, eternity is long. None of us knows what day will be our last; we don’t know when we will take our last breath. Life is so fragile that we must live in light of eternity. With the psalmist we must pray, “So teach us to number our days, that we may present to You a heart of wisdom.”

August 31, 2025 Unashamed (Romans 1:16-17) Full video here. As Christians, we have been given the great privilege of being ambassadors for Christ. Yet, far too many of us come down with lock-jaw when we are outside these four walls. If God’s grace has changed us, saved us, redeemed us, transformed us and empowered us why do we still remain silent? Our text today reveals the singular passion of the apostle Paul; a passion that ought to mark every true believer.

August 24, 2025 Losing Your Life to Save It (Mark 8:34-28) Full video here. Jesus issued a demand at the end of the Sermon on the Kingdom to walk in the narrow way and enter the narrow gate. Matthew 7:13-14 is a call to discipleship. But in reality it includes a call to self-examination. It is a call to make sure that you have not been deceived into walking the board road that leads to destruction.

August 17, 2025 Profane or Holy? (John 6:16-21) Full video here. How can you tell if you are a faithful disciple or a fickle fake? John 6:16-21 gives us a picture of faithful followers and the epistle of 1 John gives us some tests of salvation. These passaged will provide a snapshot of faithful believers who bring purity and adoring worship into the sanctuary of the Lord.

August 10, 2025 Profanity in the Sanctuary, Part 2 (John 6:60-66) Full video here. Jesus’ words and message were intentionally divisive. He said in Matthew 10:34, “Do not think that I came other than bring peace on earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.” Jesus divides the true believers from the false believers; the wheat from the tares; the sheep from the goats; the righteous from the unrighteous.

August 3, 2025 Profanity in the Sanctuary (Selected Scriptures) Full video here. The vine and branches analogy that Jesus used in John 15 reminds us that there are two kinds of branches: good and bad. There are two kinds of disciples: true and false. There are two kinds of followers: honest and hypocritical. You have true branches and Judas branches. You have people who produce real fruit to the glory of God and those who produce plastic fruit for their own edification.

July 27, 2025 A Memorial of a Sure Hope. (1 Corinthians 11:23-26) Full video here. There are two sacraments instituted by the Lord Jesus for His Church as visible signs of the Gospel of Christ. In baptism, the rite of initiation, we are united with Christ – in His death, burial, resurrection, sufferings and Lordship. He instituted The Lord’s Supper as A Memorial to Christ.

July 20, 2025 A Sign of a Sure Hope (Romans 6:1-7) Full video here. Our Lord Jesus Christ established two sacraments for the Church. He established baptism as a once-for-all rite of initiation and He established the Lord’s Supper as a regular rite of remembrance. They become visible demonstrations of our faith in Christ Jesus and His lordship of our lives.

July 13, 2025 Knowing Christ and the Spirit (Ephesians 2:11-22). Full video here. In confessing the Son of God we acknowledge the fact that Jesus Christ was and is the most important Person who ever lived! He is the Centerpiece of civilization, the Founder and Foundation of the Church and the only Savior of the World. Once we believe in the existence of God, stand firmly upon His Word and believe in His Son we will learn to practice the art of living by the power of the Holy Spirit.

July 6, 2025 Knowing God and His Word (2 Peter 1:3-11) Full video here. How then can we get an accurate picture of what God is really like? The only place we can turn for any authority on theology is the Scriptures. Only after a careful examination of all the Scriptures can we come to an accurate concept of God. Our belief about God is basic to our Christian life.

June 29, 2025 A Firm Foundation, Part 2 (2 Corinthians 5:21) Full video here. Man’s fallen nature leaves him in need of reconciliation to Holy God. Since we are stained and unholy, nothing we do can reconcile us to God. So, in an amazing and unbelievable act of humility and grace, God shattered the darkness of this world and became the Light of the World. Setting aside His majesty and exalted position He condescended to make His dwelling among us in order to lead us back to the intimate fellowship we had destroyed by our sin.

June 22, 2025 A Firm Foundation (2 Corinthians 5:16-21) Full video here. The Scriptures reveal the holiness of God and the sinfulness of man. Sin places man in a desperate situation. How can we be reconciled to this holy God Whom we have offended? This passage reveals the answer: we are reconciled by God’s magnificent grace as He gave His own Son to be the sacrifice that would atone for our sin.

June 15, 2025 To Be Found in Him (2 Peter 3:11-18) Full video here. In the closing verses of this second letter Peter wants to leave the believers with a challenge to holiness. He wants them to leave behind a legacy of enduring faith so that succeeding generations would know how to follow in their steps as they followed the example of Christ.

June 8, 2025 The Lord’s Promise (2 Peter 3:5-10) Full video here. The prophets and the apostles offer irrefutable proof of the Second Coming of Christ and the judgment to come. They consistently tell of Christ’s coming to gather His own, the eschatalogical judgment that will fall on the ungodly, the eternal kingdom of Christ and the eternal righteousness in which believers will dwell.

June 1, 2025 The Last Days (2 Peter 3:1-4) Full video here. Christ’s coming is guaranteed by His promise and upheld by His power. The Lord’s patience now means that you and I, as believers, must use every opportunity to share the Gospel with the lost and dying world. When He comes He will seal the last days and time will be no more.

March 30, 2025 Established in the Truth (2 Peter 1:12-15) Full video here. The apostle Peter understood the difficulty we humans have in remembering important information and lessons. Like any good teacher he understood the value of repetition. Peter, following the teaching pattern established by the Master, comes to a point in our text today where he digresses from the subject of salvation and stresses the importance of reminding people of the essential truths of Scripture.

March 23, 2025 You Will Never Stumble (2 Peter 1:5-11) Full video here. This text is one of the most encouraging and assuring passages in all Scripture. It tells us in no uncertain terms that we can rest assured that we are saved, that we are in Christ and that we are headed for heaven. Peter outlines for us four aspects of our assurance in Christ: the demand for effort, the desired virtues, the deciding options and the divine promises.

March 16, 2025 All Things for Our Good (Romans 8:28-30) Full video here. As God’s child, you can rest in the assurance that no matter what comes into your life, whether good or evil, it will be sovereignly tempered by almighty God and ultimately used for your temporal and eternal good. God is sovereign over the worst of things, the vilest of things, the most evil of things, the most heinous of things and He can overrule them for our good.

March 9, 2025 God’s Promise of Assurance (Romans 8:28-39) Full video here. As God’s child, you can rest in the assurance that no matter what comes into your life, whether good or evil, it will be sovereignly tempered by almighty God and put together in a divine synergism that will ultimately provide good for you – not only now but in glory forever. Assurance is good news to the believer.

March 2, 2025 Assurance of Salvation (1 John 5:1-13) Full video here. Assurance is vitally important to the believer. The child of God must rest in the assurance of his salvation. If you are going to withstand the lies of false teachers, you must know that you know that you know. Being grounded in the truth of salvation by grace through faith alone in Christ alone will fill your heart with blessed assurance.

February 23, 2025 The Truth About Salvation (2 Peter 1:1-4) Full video here. The opening verses of 2nd Peter remind us of this great salvation that has been afforded to us in Christ and the promises He has made to us. These promises are great and precious. They are the best! They can’t be greater because they come from the riches of God’s grace; they can’t be more precious because He granted them to us at the cost of His Son. All these promises are “Yes!” in Christ.

February 16, 2025 Our Precious and Abundant Faith (2 Peter 1:1-4) Full video here. Deception is such a destructive force in our world that even many believers have often been deceived. False teachers and preachers abound, preying upon uninformed and uneducated believers. Instead of being aware of doctrinal and spiritual error, many Christians welcome them into their homes and minds, embracing error – or at least, ignoring and tolerating it.

February 9, 2025 Saved and Sanctified (Romans 8:9-14) Full sermon here. To be sanctified means to be set apart for a holy purpose. Pursuing sanctification demands our cooperative effort with the work of the Holy Spirit. We are not passive in this daily slaughter of sin. Yes, the Holy Spirit will work to cause our hearts to abound in grace and spiritual fruit, but it also demands our complete surrender to His movement in our lives.

February 2, 2025 Your Conscience and Overcoming Sin (Romans 2:11-16) Full video here. The conscience is what separates us humans from the animal world. With the conscience we are able to contemplate the consequences of our actions and we make a moral self-evaluation. But the conscience is not infallible. Neither does the conscience reveal right and wrong. The conscience only reacts to what informs it.

January 26, 2025 Our Sin and the Grace of God (Romans 6:1-14).                     Full video here. As believers, we struggle with the truth that we are saved by grace – yet we still sin. Paul addresses the relationship between graced and sin and reminds us that since we are saved by grace we have died to sin and are alive to God through Christ. We are to make it our aim to crucify the flesh and live in holiness for the glory of Christ.

December 22, 2024 Christmas Joy in Action (Luke 2:15-20) Full video here. All of heaven broke loose with the majesty of God’s glory as the angel announced the birth of the King of kings and Lord of lords. The shepherds were the first to experience the Incarnation and now they had to respond. They had a deep desire to talk about their experience. They wanted to find someone to whom they could tell this glorious news.

December 15, 2024 A Savior is Born (Luke 2:8-14) Full video here. Christmas is all about the joy that comes to us through the atoning sacrifice of Christ. It is a celebration of the grace of God. Our hearts should rejoice exceedingly at the fact that our hopeless situation was dramatically turned to joy when the Christ-child was born in Bethlehem.

December 8, 2024 The Sovereign Work of God in the Birth of Christ (Luke 2:1-7) Full video here. A child was born like millions had been born before and since, but this Child was unlike any child born before or since. On that ordinary night, Jesus, the Second Person of the holy Trinity, tore through the veil of eternal deity and clothed Himself in the fleshly robes of time and space.

November 17, 2024 Let Everything Praise the Lord (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18) Full video here. Your true spiritual maturity is measured by how you rejoice, pray and give thanks in all things and at all times. No matter what comes your way in life you don’t make excuses or look for exceptions. Believers are always able to find reason to thank God. The opposite is true of the unbeliever. An unregenerate heart is an unthankful heart.

November 10, 2024 We Give Thanks (1 Timothy 2:1-8) Full video here. Believers recognize that God is sovereign in the affairs of man and nations. He give us leaders either for blessing or judgment. But whichever comes – blessing or judgment – our responsibility remains the same: we are alien citizens here on this planet, and as citizens of heaven our responsibility does not change. We are ambassadors of the Lord Jesus Christ, and Christians are the only people on the planet with directions to the Escape Vessel, the Ark of Safety – Jesus Christ.

October 27, 2024 Abandoned by God (Romans 1:18-32) Full video here. Throughout history nations have come and gone, and all who have slipped quietly into ancient history have done so because they abandoned almighty God. There is probably no sadder reality than to know that you have been abandoned by God. There is only one solution for nations or individuals who have been abandoned by God: we must stand on the truth of God’s Word. His truth is the only truth that saves.

October 20, 2024 Receiving and Showing Mercy (Luke 10:30-37) Full video here. The Lord Jesus uses the parable of the Good Samaritan to reminds each of us that we stand condemned under the Law. When we try to justify our sin, we must be brought to the point that we recognize our failure in the pursuit of righteousness and throw ourselves on the grace and mercy of God. Then, as we have received mercy and compassion, we are to demonstrate that same mercy and compassion toward those in need.

October 13, 2024 A Divine Test (Luke 10:25-37) Full video here. The most important question anyone could ever ask is: “What must I do to inherit eternal life?” Jesus addresses the question by pointing out the demands of the Law and our inability to meet those requirements. Then, He shows us the grace and mercy of God, which is our only hope.

October 6, 2024 The True Circumcision (Philippians 3:1-3) Full video here. This passage focuses our attention on the clear distinction between true and false believers. The Jew placed his confidence in the physical badge of circumcision and in his performance of the duties of the Law. Confidence in the flesh stands in direct opposition to the Person and work of Christ. The true circumcision is marked by true worship, true glory and true confidence in the grace of God to redeem mankind.

September 29, 2024 Cautiously Joyful (Philippians 3:1-3) Full video here. Paul’s point is that the greatest distinction between true believers and false believers is that a true believer is marked by the joy of the Holy Spirit. The entire book of Philippians is an epistle of joy. We are joyful people because we are aware and assured of our salvation based on the completed work of Christ. Faith grounded in Christ alone fill us with unending joy.

September 22, 2024 True Jews, True Believers (Philippians 3:1-3) Full video here. This theme of examining yourself to know whether you are of the faith or not began when Jesus confronted the false faith of the Pharisees. All along the way we see this theme of true Christianity running like an unbroken thread through the fabric of God’s Word.

September 15, 2024 The Deadly Danger of Being Self Deceived (Luke 6:46-49) Full video here. A person who claims to know Christ but does not obey Him has no understanding of what the new life in Christ is all about. To claim that you have knowledge of the truth of God but to fail to obey that truth is to be deceived. There are many reasons people are susceptible to being self-deceived.

September 8, 2024 The Deadly Danger of Being Self-deceived (Luke 6:46-49) Full video here. There is nothing more important than your salvation. You have no greater need than to know that you are saved. Jesus offers a check to see how serious you are about your faith. It is a check to see if you are a hypocrite or a genuine follower of the Lord Jesus Christ.

September 1, 2024 The Danger of Playing Church (Matthew 7:21-23) Full video here. It is no surprise that such hypocrisy has found its way into the Church. From the very early days of the Church the apostles were warning of “wolves in sheep’s clothing” who would infiltrate the ranks of the redeemed in order to wreak havoc and lead many astray. There is nothing more important than your salvation. You have no greater need than to know that you are saved.

August 25, 2024 Perfected, Confirmed, Strengthened, Established (1 Peter 5:10-14) Full video here. Remember, the New Testament is written to encourage suffering Christians. The reason God directed Peter, Paul, John and others to write to suffering Christians was so they would have hope in the midst of their trials. The sufferings that we face must always be viewed against the backdrop of eternity.

August 18, 2024 Be on the Alert (1 Peter 5:5-9) Full video here. Peter’s closing admonition to the churches in Asia Minor was designed to encourage them in the face of severe trials and suffering. Since they would be facing a “fiery trial” he wanted them to be fully prepared to withstand the persecution.

August 11, 2024 Shepherd the Flock of God (1 Peter 5:1-4) Full video here. The message today addresses the Elders of the Church. Leadership is an absolute essential quality for successful families, nations, armies and churches. Peter’s instruction in our text clearly defines and explains the importance of Elders in the early church. Peter takes time in the middle of his discussion on faithfully enduring the fiery trials to address the leaders of the Church and encourage them to be faithful in carrying out their duties and responsibilities.

August 4, 2024 Sharing the Sufferings of Christ (1 Peter 4:12-19) Full video here. Peter offers an explanation of how we are to endure the trials, suffering and hostility that are present in our culture today. The assurance in which we rest is this: if we suffer as the elect of God for being loyal to Him in all things we will be blessed richly, for our God will be with us all the way.

July 28, 2024 Good Stewards of God’s Grace (1 Peter 4:7-11) Full video here. Peter describes the duty of every believer in order to fulfill the mission of the Church. These obligations will enable us to become spiritually effective in the reaching the world with the Gospel. Recognizing that time is short and with the love of Christ permeating our hearts we can reach out to those around us who need the good news of grace.

July 21, 2024 Your Life is a Vapor (1 Peter 4:7) Full video here. Life is short and life is uncertain. Your length of days, the number of minutes, hours, days, weeks, months and years have been determined by your sovereign Creator. It may be that we don’t think quite often enough about the uncertainty of life. We shall see the Lord one day and stand before Him. How we live, love and serve today will determine how we are judged and rewarded on that day.

July 7, 2024 Living for the Will of God (1 Peter 4:1-6) Full video here. It could be argued that many Christians, instead of wearing the brand of Christ have been branded by the things of this world. The truth is that the call to follow Christ is a call to be different. In his brief discourse on holiness in 2 Corinthians 6:17, Paul says, “Therefore, come out from their midst and be separate,” says the Lord. The call to surrender as we follow Christ is a call to suffering as He suffered, but it is also a call to being different as His holy people.

June 30, 2024 Our Liberty Through Christ (Isaiah 61) Full video here. The Christian’s Declaration of Independence is secured in Christ. We have been set free from the oppression and bondage of sin. The Scriptures are quite clear that God, in His infinite mercy and grace, gave His Son as the atoning sacrifice for our sin that we might be released from the bondage by which Satan had enslaved us.

June 23, 2024 Armed and Victorious (1 Peter 4:1) Full video here. The truth is that the call to follow Christ is a call to be different. The call to surrender as we follow Christ is a call to suffering as He suffered, but it is also a call to being different as His holy people. Our text today teaches us that there is a connection between Christ’s unjust suffering and our suffering in this life.

June 16, 2024 Salvation Through Christ (1 Peter 3:18-22) Full video here. The passage we consider today has been classified as one of the most difficult portions of Scripture to interpret, causing much debate and disagreement. The main point of the passage is the glorious salvation that has been purchased for us in Christ Jesus. Our eternal destiny lies in our relationship with Him.

June 9, 2024 That He Might Bring us to God (1 Peter 3:18) Full video here.
Today’s text addresses the very heart of Christ’s earthly ministry. It deals with the purpose for which Christ came to this earth; namely, to redeem mankind from sin through His substitutionary death on the cross. Our salvation is the key for Jesus’ ministry and is the key to encouraging Christians during times of unjust suffering.

June 2, 2024 Sanctify Christ as Lord (1 Peter 3:13-17) Full video here.

Persecution has been a part of the history of God’s people since the beginning of His covenant with Abraham.  When we come in faith to Christ as Savior and surrender to Him as Lord we are not signing up for a life of ease. How should we respond to the mistreatment, persecution and judgmentalism of the world around us?

April 28, 2024 A People Belonging to God (1 Peter 2:9-10) Full video here.

This passage indicates that the title “the people of God” is realized only by one’s relationship with Christ. God chose us in Christ Jesus, and because of our faith in Christ and belief in Him we are now the community of believers, the special people of God. As His people we are a community marked by election, royalty, a priesthood, holiness and a special relation to the Father through Christ.

April 21, 2024 Christ, the Cornerstone (1 Peter 2:4-8) Full video here.

In this passage Peter describes the Body of Christ, the church, as a spiritual building which Christ is building through the power of His Spirit at work in each believer. Peter mentions three areas in which we are united, and that unity is based on our connection to Jesus Christ, the Cornerstone.

April 14, 2024 Your Spiritual Cravings (1 Peter 2:1-3) Full video here.

In this passage Peter states the case for Christian growth by telling us there are things that must be eliminated from our lives and things that must be added to enhance our spiritual growth. Today’s message deals with the one thing that MUST mark a believer: a craving for the Word of God.

April 7, 2024 Grow Up in Your Salvation (1 Peter 2:1-3) Full video here.

In Peter’s mind spiritual growth is inevitable. It is supernatural, to be sure, but it is expected of every believer. You can’t avoid it, neglect it, reject it, refuse it, or stop it and still be obedient to the Lord and pleasing in His sight. If, or since, you are a new creature in Christ you must grow.

March 31, 2024 A Day of New Beginnings (Luke 24:1-12) Full video here.

The crucifixion of Christ boldly and unmistakably declared that the Sacrifice for man’s sin had been accepted and his sin had been covered. As Friday’s shadows fell over Jerusalem that weekend, and as Saturday’s silence resounded throughout the city, all seemed hopeless for the followers of Christ. But on Sunday morning all of heaven exploded with a divine decree as the stone was rolled away from in front of the tomb. Jesus burst forth in glorious victory declaring that death could not contain Him and that He had conquered the grave and hell with finality. Everything we believe as Christians is predicated on the fact of the resurrection. Without it there is no Christianity.

March 24, 2024 Preparing for the Lord’s Supper (1 Corinthians 11:27-33) Full video here.

The section starts with a therefore. This ties in with what Paul said in verses 23-26. That is, since it is the remembrance of His life and sacrificial death, since the bread and juice represent the Body and blood of Christ our precious Savior, since this is a meal to commemorate His love for us in becoming our Substitute, and since we proclaim His death until He comes we MUST approach this table in a manner that pleases and honors Him.

March 17, 2024 Perverting the Lord’s Supper (1 Corinthians 11:17-22) Full video here.

You see, the Church in Corinth had many problems. Their unity was threatened, their worship was out of order, their doctrine was questionable and their love for one another was suspect. But the thing that stands out in Paul’s mind as he writes this portion of the letter is their approach to the Communion service as they met to worship. Their abuse of the Communion Service brought an apostolic rebuke (V17-22), apostolic instruction (v23-26) and a stern application (v27-34).

March 10, 2024 The Table of the Lord (1 Corinthians 11:23-26) Full video here.

Familiarity breeds contempt. It means that extensive knowledge of or close association with someone or something leads to a loss of respect for them or it. It could easily be argued that our familiarity with the Lord’s Supper has produced in us a certain contempt. We don’t fully recognize the significance or the weight of this treasured meal. Some Christians approach the Table of the Lord with the same enthusiasm as brushing their teeth, or combing their hair. These are necessary routine things that we do almost without thinking. The Lord’s Supper has great spiritual significance since it was designed by our Master as a memorial to His atoning death on the cross of Calvary.

March 3, 2024 The Pursuing Pilgrims (1 Peter 1:22-25) Full video here.

Nothing can threaten the success of any endeavor more than disunity. Peter makes the case in today’s text that since we are the chosen of God, the elect children belonging to a Sovereign Father, the blood-bought family of Christ there must be unity among us. Since we have received a higher calling there is a higher demand placed upon us to live above the world.

February 25, 2024 The Purchased Pilgrims (1 Peter 1:18-21) Full video here.

In our study of Peter’s epistle to the “strangers and pilgrims” we have discovered that God has chosen us and has prepared for us an inheritance in heaven that is imperishable and undying. The believer’s response to this salvation and inheritance is seen in the overarching tenor of Peter’s letter in this passage (verses 13-21): “Be holy.”

February 18, 2024 The Purified Pilgrims, Part 2 (1 Peter 1:13-17) Full video here.

The ultimate demand, Peter tells us in verses 15-17, is that God’s people must be holy. Moses gave the law to the people of Israel on their way to the Promised Land. As he gave it to them he emphasized the call to holiness. Eight times in this book we find the instruction from the Lord, “So you shall purge the evil from among you.” The Christian is to be holy because he is different than all other people. True devotion and loyal commitment are expressed through holy living.

Peter now turns our attention to the expectations that are placed upon us as we live by faith. God rightly expects a disciplined effort on our part to live a life that reflects our new standing in Christ. Since we enjoy a new relation to God, new liberty in Christ and new life by the Spirit we are to give expression to this salvation through obedience to the will of God. Peter focuses our attention in these verses on The Pursuit of Holiness.

We come today to a passage in Peter’s first letter that reminds us once more of the salvation that is ours in Christ Jesus and the joy that it provides. His response to this salvation is an interesting one. It is fascinating that the Holy Spirit so often prompts the writers of scripture to declare a truth and immediately break forth and praise. Paul often does it in his writings. After declaring a truth about doctrine he often just breaks into praise for God’s amazing grace.

Today we are going to consider the results of being the elect of God. We have been chosen by God’s grace. Nothing in us makes us worthy of His love and redemption. But what is the purpose of His choosing us? What is the ultimate goal of being the elect of God? When we understand the purpose for which we have been redeemed, we will find joy and assurance for our journey home.

In our text today, 1 Peter 1:1-2, Peter takes a theological plunge of profoundly deep proportions. In these few words Peter offers hope for the pilgrims who were scattered because of their faith. He reminds them that they are The Privileged Pilgrims. Even though they are scattered because of persecution, even though they are strangers and aliens in this world, they are also privileged to be the elect people of God. It is also an encouraging passage for us today who, while facing less severe trials and suffering, need assurance of our faith so that we can live with the expectation of hope.

We are strangers in this world, for we are citizens of heaven and are headed to a home prepared in glory. No matter how diversely we are scattered, our hearts are turned toward God. Christians in any place are a group of people whose eyes are turned toward God and whose loyalty is beyond this world. We pass our days on the earth but our citizenship is in heaven.

The purpose of this letter is to equip believers with confidence and assurance in the face of persecution and adversity. Peter teaches us how to live victoriously in the face of trial without losing hope and without becoming bitter. When Christians suffer we have a duty to trust in the almighty hand of our loving God. He redeemed us for His purposes and will not allow the enemy’s assaults to define our life and destiny. He will provide strength and support for your darkest hour.

“The Substance Belongs to Christ” (Colossians 2:16-23) Paul’s treatise in Colossians 2 is a warning to us in the modern Church. We must stand firm against any false human philosophy that opposes the sufficiency of Christ. He alone is our Savior, and the Salvation that He gives is full and complete.
